The much-anticipated display of contemporary-traditional fine art, which spotlights sculpture and paintings of genres ranging from pristine California landscapes and seascapes to figures and still-lifes, moves to this revered Los Angeles cultural institution for the first time.  The 101^st Annual Gold Medal Exhibition will feature more than 200 representational works of art from renowned traditional fine artists, who have been active in expanding interest in the plein air heritage associated with the organization’s beginnings in 1909.  The club’s founding artists, who were attracted to California from the Midwest and East Coast by the region’s natural beauty and year-round sunshine, gave birth to the artistic movement now referred to as California Impressionism.
